In 2025, a group of 11 researchers - including PhD holders, doctoral students, and masters graduates in Dentistry - published a randomized double-blind clinical trial using Almacura® Colloidal Silver 40ppm as a mouthwash in children aged 6?9 in a Brazilian public school.
The study was conducted entirely independently. Almacura® did not participate in the design, execution, or analysis of results. Researchers chose the product for its accessible cost and formulation free of other active agents - which allowed them to evaluate the isolated action of silver nanoparticles.
Children in the group using Almacura® Colloidal Silver as a mouthwash showed a statistically significant reduction in cavity progression compared to the group using only fluoride toothpaste. Twice as many children showed improvement in the intervention group (14 children) compared to the control group (7 children).
The study followed CONSORT guidelines. The Almacura® 40ppm solution was chemically characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (STEM) at a Brazilian federal university's Chemistry department.
